The Naija Dream

Martin Luther King jr. had a dream, that dream was the American dream, that dream is finally being lived today-the Obama phenomenon. In Nigeria, we hope that things will get better, we hope to have a better nation but then I wonder “what is the Naija dream?” we are talking about rebranding Nigeria but into what if I may ask? do we have a naija dream? is there one common hope, one common purpose one common goal, vision, objective or we hope to rebrand naija into a multidimensional, diverse, visionless nation?

The diversity of tongues that we have is seemingly a negative rather than a positive. This reminds me of the biblical story of the tower of babel where diversity of tongue was what God used to put disunity among man and stop the achievement of their gargantuan goal of reaching heaven -  a feat which God himself said was achievable hence the drastic measure!

In Nigeria, what is obtainable is different people coming into office with their individual goals and what often happens is a new administration overhauls most if not all of the things that the previous administration has done, then beginning theirs which of course will not be completed during their tenure before a new government comes in and the cycle continues making it seem like there’s no development in the country when in actual fact, each developmental effort is always aborted!

until we have unity of purpose and speak the same language (figuratively), Nigeria may never achieve her potentials neither will her people be proud citizens in the committee of nations.

What do you think?

IS THERE A NAIJA DREAM?
