"When everything fails, try Mathematics" - Adeboye

Pastor Adeboye with faculty members, department of mathematics, University of Lagos.
“Mathematics is the science of life and this principle has helped me in my marriage of over 47 years” - Adeboye

Equation1:            Love is Blind
Equation2:            Marriage is a special miracle worker with an anointing for opening eyes Genesis29:24-25 (Leah & Rachel)
When you solve these two equations properly you'll see that while love is blind, marriage has the anointing to open the eyes.

When your wife adds too much pepper in your soup, instead of shouting and yelling at her just say “my mathematics teacher taught us that the amount of pepper in the soup should be inversely proportional to the temperature in the city” and she will get the message LOL!

Equation3: Angels don't eat jollof rice Judges 6:11-16
Equation4: Angels don't marry  Matthew 22:30
The fact that you're married to her at all means you're  not an angel and your wife is not an angel even though she might have dressed like an angel on your wedding day, she is definitely NOT an angel.

When everything fails in life for you, try mathematics! Yes mathematics! This is because mathematics is the science of living. One way to know is the bible in John 9:5 says; “Jesus is the light of the world” and Mathematics shows us light travels at the speed of 297,600,000 km/secs therefore it means to say if Jesus is the light of the world and you invite him into your life your least progress rate will be at the speed of light.

My mathematics professor once gave me an assignment to do which was naturally beyond me. Upon his arrival, he discovered I had finished it he asked who helped me because I didn’t want to tell him it was Jesus I said Prof Emmanuel (he then said which department is he?) I in turn said ‘department of original science’ he said ‘so we have that department in this school?’ it wasn’t long before he figured I was talking about Jesus and because there’s a thin line between a genius and a mad man he didn’t bother arguing with me any further.

I want to implore you today if you’ve not accepted Jesus into your life to please decide and do so today and your progress will be as the speed of light.

Pastor Adeboye was at the University of Lagos, department of mathematics on thursday 19th february 2015 for the first ever inaugural lecture in his honour where he also donated 50 million naira. History has it that he was the first ever MSc student in the department in 1972. A one time academic himself, this is not the first time he will be making such contribution towards the attainment of a world-class education sector.

A lesson or two...from Terry G!

Fiddling with my laptop I thought of what to write, but didn’t feel like posting any pre-written article so out of boredom, I put on the TV, hoping to watch some documentary or some news but guess what I stumbled upon? An interview with Terry G yes, Terry G! Okay! So what is it about this 'bling'-wielding, street gangster-like “akpako master” that could possibly draw my attention enough to do an article on him?

Well, before you run off (as I probably would) with bias concerning his person or on me for doing a piece on him, lets quickly learn…and run off still! Well, straight to the point. During the interview he was asked why he no longer has his piercings and he made valid points which struck me which I feel every artiste and individual reading this could learn a thing from.

Firstly, he made a valid statement, “we are all children of God”. Of course we all know that yeah? Pretty sure a number of us including myself may be quick to judge this statement including the person saying it but hold on a second, I guess we were the same ones that judged the biblical Rahab in the Old Testament or Mary Magdalene or even, the 'brief' Zacheus! As much as we all advocate for a closer relationship with God, it is important that we never miss the baseline truth “we all are children of God”. As a Christian, Pastor, Preacher, Evangelist or Church leader, if you would bring someone to God, you must not miss this baseline truth.

Whether the individual has taken up his son-ship by accepting and reciprocating this love is a different matter all together. Another thing he said regarding taking off the piercings was that “sometimes you have some friends you need to get rid of, some friends that are not just good for you” and then I remembered as a youngster how my parents were always particular about those I kept as friends. This of course helped me up to the point where I am today wherein I can proudly say, I choose my friends, people who are consistent with my values and beliefs. It takes guts to say NO to being friends with someone especially when you ‘go way back’ but it is better to stay off what can destroy you as its YOUR LIFE not theirs!

The next thing he said is very important for every artiste out there. He said he got to a point where he discovered he didn’t need to look mad or wild to impact with his music. ‘Come for my shows, watch my performance and judge if anything has changed’ he said. A lot of us think embellishments are requirements for success in our artistry and this is a wrong notion. Terry G is a man who seems to have gained a maturity that eludes many artistes today. Let your music speak for you. Stop trying to create a person you are not all in a bid to impress and gain ephemeral influence. Let your music do the talking.

If you are indeed convinced of your content, then why the fear?

Happy New End 2014!!!

I welcome you to the New Year! Yes, I know it may sound somewhat absurd that while we are already through the first month of the year, I’m just saying my new year’s greetings. However, for the past two weeks, I thought of the right post, something to keep you and I inspired all year-long then it hit me; in life, some are early starters, others are late starters, some are early bloomers, others are late bloomers however, what matters is that at THE END of the year, we all see ourselves, at the top and in December!

The journey of life is not about who starts well or who starts fastest rather, it is about where we all end up, the finish line. Virtually in every sport, what matters is not the score at the beginning rather, it is all about what the score line reads at THE END (ask Nigerian soccer fans in Atlanta ’96 or Liverpool fc fans in the early 2000’s or even, the home based super eagles at the on going CHAN).

This is not to say that the end justifies the means if we say the end is all that matters instead, our definitions of the end must be guided by precepts and values which we hold dear either as enshrined in our religious beliefs, or in the norms, values and culture including laws of the land. What this reminds you is that as a good name is better than riches, as the race is not to the swift nor to the strong, and as the end of a matter is better than the beginning thereof, you should not be discouraged if you’ve broken some new year resolutions already, or are not in line with the goals you’ve set for the year and are wondering how they will ever be achieved.

Always remember, having your eyes fixed on the prize, THE END, whatever obstacles that may stand in your way right now are nothing but potholes which may even serve as propellants for reaching your goal. Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man never starts the first few meters in front instead, he powers through and shines at THE END. I’ll end with the words of my former vice chancellor, Professor Oyewale Tomori, ‘let us mind in the beginning, the things which matter in THE END’.

Happy New Year of opportunities, possibilities and successes! See you at THE END!
